How build a computer which will understand what we are saying to it? How to push computer to answer us? From where are misunderstanding between computer and human? Is our smartphones are that efficient in communication like HAL (intelligent computer from A Space Odyssey)? During the lecture we will ask yourself from where are problems in interpretation human language by machines, how to solve that problem and what this means for Digital Humanities?

PhD Maciej Ogrodniczuk – obtain his master degree in IT and PhD in Humanities at University of Warsaw. Currently he is leading national and international research projects in linguistic engineering. As a scientist, he is researching the semantic description of polish language particular reference dependencies.

A lecture was a part of series lecture, conference and workshops titled: Digital Humanities: Project, People, Theory organised by DELab UW.
